INGO Insurance Company has updated the rules for travel insurance. Thechanges concern insurance coverage of diseases caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to the new INGO insurance terms and conditions, the diagnosis and treatment of coronavirus will be covered by the insurance policy similarly to other common viruses and will not be subject to pandemic exclusions. Initial diagnostic measures and testing for COVID-19 abroad will be reimbursed by the insurance company in case of a positive result. In addition, the insurance company will reimburse the costs of forced observation in the host country, unless otherwise provided by local law. During a long inpatient stay, the company will cover the insured's medical expenses in the amount of up to USD 5 thousand/euro within 7-15 days after the end of the contract. The policy also covers financial risks associated with the forced cancellation or postponement of a trip. The insurance amount is set at UAH 100 thousand.

The innovations will not affect the cost of the insurance policy.

"In this way,we are trying to support Ukrainian tourists and make traveling financially safe," said Viktor Shevchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board. "Thecompany decided not to change the cost of insurance so that medical care abroad is affordable for Ukrainians even in a pandemic," he said.

New rules of insurance for those traveling abroad come into force and apply to insurance contracts from 06.07.2020
