Features of insurance coverage

Insured

Liability insurance for the transportation of dangerous goods is mandatory for shippers, carriers and consignees of dangerous goods. Accordingly, each of these entities may be an insured under the contract.

Insured events

An insured event is any event during the transportation of dangerous goods that results in the insured's civil liability to compensate for the damage caused under the terms and conditions of insurance and the contract.

Deductible

The amount of deductible under the contract may not exceed 1% of the sum insured.

What is the period of validity of the insurance contract?

The liability under the contract begins with the commencement of activities related to the transportation of dangerous goods from the place of their manufacture to the place of destination, with the preparation of cargo, containers, vehicles and crew, with the acceptance of cargo, cargo operations and short-term storage of cargo at all stages of transportation, and ends upon completion of the transportation process.

What affects the cost of insurance?

The following factors affect the insurance rate under the contract:

  • the volume of dangerous goods to be transported
  • transportation distance
  • insurance period
  • other conditions affecting the risk of an insured event

How is the sum insured under the agreement set?

The sum insured under the contract is calculated for each full and partial ton of dangerous cargo and, depending on the class of danger of the cargo (9 classes in total), is set at 60 to 120 tax-free minimum incomes.
